Isaiah 55: 8-9

How do we know the will of God? Is His will knowable? How can we be sure?

Should I look for burning bushes and thunderous voices when I try to find the will of God? Should I put out a fleece to determine His will?

So many questions we often ask. So many are asking. What are the answers? Find out this Sunday as we kick off a new series called FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS, a preaching series about finding the will of God in a world of noise and different voices. Join us during our 9am, 11am or 5pm services. See you here!

he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his wounds we are healed. –Isaiah 53.5

What Jesus did on the cross for us will never get old. It continues to baffle humanity’s finite minds more than two thousand years after the actual event happened. Philosophers, religious thinkers, scientists, ordinary men and women, they all marvel at the implications of the coming of Jesus that culminated at the cross of Calvary.

God came down, not to bring judgment but to draw men to Him. To show mercy, not to condemn. To heal, not to bruise. To show love, not to pour out vials of terrible wrath. To save humanity from the power of sin. To bring freedom to the captives. To open blinded eyes. To declare the good news of salvation to the race of men, even when we didn’t deserve it.

In the next two weeks, Victory will have a new preaching series that focuses on the great exchange that happened on the cross. What does the cross mean to you? What does Jesus mean to you? Join us in Victory Caloocan and find out the message of love and salvation in the cross of Jesus.

Why can’t the writer just say Abraham, period? Why lump them together?

Family. That’s the reason why. When God thinks about us, He thinks of us in the context of our families. Families matter to Him. He cares about how fathers lead, how mothers show an example of godliness and how children obey their parents in the Lord.

In Victory Caloocan, we want to see godly families being built up in the faith, families where Christ is the center and families where the name of Jesus is talked about everyday. That’s why on March 31, we invite parents to join us for the first ever parenting foundations seminar here in our church. Contact us if you need information. We’d love to help you.

What would be the aftermath if God intrudes your daily grind? Would you stagger at the grace or resent the interruption? Would you bow down and submit or wish He doesn’t come the way He does?

Join us this weekend for another exciting sermon series: INTRUSION. For the opening salvo, we will be talking about the life of Jacob and his famous daybreak wrestling with the Angel of the Lord. Why did he wrestle? Why did the angel asked for his name? What is the significance of his limping? Do we even have to care about this ancient story?

Stay tuned…

From the day we started until today, our services and ministries are filled with people who joyfully give their time, skills and talents as a way of honoring God.

On February 26, we did our volunteer weekend. Volunteer weekend is a time for anyone in the church to sign up to any of the seven key ministries that we do. It is also a time for long time volunteers to renew their commitments for the next twelve months.

The following are the available ministries we have:

Administrative Support

Communications

Creative Support

Kids Ministry

Music

Technical Production

Ushering

If you missed the volunteer sign up last week and you would like to help, just leave a comment below or send us an email. We’d be very glad to find a place for you.

Love quotes and funny Pinoy pick-up lines are beginning to fill our inboxes, Facebook walls and Twitter feeds. Once again, it is the season of the year when love is a hot topic for conversations.

The funny thing about love is that everyone knows about it but very few could really say what it is. Much of what we know about love come from movies, songs and popular quotes. As Christians, we base our beliefs not on popular culture but on the solid truths of the unchanging Word of God.

What does the Bible say about love, about falling in love, about courtship and about relationship with the opposite sex? Does “love at first sight” really happen? Is “following your heart” a sound Biblical advice? Is love really blind?

In the next three weeks, Victory is going to delve into the Scriptures and look for relevant answers to these questions that people have been asking since the time of Adam and Eve. Join us here at Victory Caloocan or in any Victory congregations all across Metro Manila as we seek to find answers together from the unchanging Word of God.

It was already 2:20 am last night and I was still getting text messages from people who were so blessed with prayer and fasting that they could not sleep. I myself could not believe what I saw earlier. Where did these people get the energy to worship God passionately when they have been literally starved for seven straight days?

Last night was Day 7 of the fast, the day when we prayed for our personal concerns. There were three highlights of the prayer meeting. First was Pastor Ferdie’s exhortation: May breakthrough ka man o wala, kay Jesus pa lang, panalo ka na! (Thanks DocJun for this.) This simple statement cut through the heart of prayer and fasting. We do not fast to twist the arm of God so He will bless us. We are already blessed. We fast because we want Jesus.

Second highlight was the spontaneous outpouring of grace when people started blessing one another. We never planned this in the pastors’ huddle. When Pastor Noel broached the idea in the pulpit, it felt like the heavens were let loose. Some people emptied their wallets to bless others; others gave their entire purse and everything in it. I saw some who could not get up- they simply slumped in their seats crying at the spontaneous flow of goodness. The rest were awe struck. The atmosphere was reminiscent of the fledgling New Testament church in the book of Acts.

Click here to view the embedded video.

The third highlight was the worship. My God, what kind of worship was that! It was like the fire of heaven came down to burn our offerings at the altar of God. The presence of God was so thick in the air that you could almost touch it. How many times could you sing a song that only consisted of six lines? It took us about an hour to sing Planetshakers’ The Anthem (video above) and we can’t seem to get enough of it.

As we sat around our soft dinner last night and blabbered about how God showed Himself to us in the last seven days, I was simply amazed. For Victory Caloocan, it was a huge departure of the way we did church in the past years. People were brought near to God. They met Jesus in the fast. That, I believe is the single most important thing of all.

I could almost hear the excitement in church tonight as we gather together to pray for the last prayer item for the week: personal breakthroughs. We prayed for the youth and the campuses on Day 1, for families on Day 2, the Philippines on Day 4, World Missions on Day 5, the church on Day 6, and tonight, we will be praying for ourselves. What an exciting way to conclude our week-long concerted prayer.

We would love to hear from you. Share your story if you fasted with us this past seven days.
